CWS Window Replacement: The Riviera Beach Owner’s Guide

We stock and install CWS-compatible window replacements across Riviera Beach, with most single-window jobs running between $450 and $1,100 installed depending on glass package, frame size, and whether the window is a standard single-hung or an impact-rated unit. Most replacements are completed in one visit. Owners typically find us after a crank gear finally gives out in a casement window, a balance shoe snaps in a single-hung so the sash drops hard, or a seal goes and the glass fogs between the panes. If the window still opens but won’t stay put, or you can’t get a clean seal on the sill, the part is telling you something.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS built several series lines over the years, and the replacement part has to match the series, not just the rough opening size. The most common CWS windows we see in Riviera Beach are their single-hung and horizontal slider lines, along with a run of casement windows that showed up in a lot of mid-2000s builds near Lake Park and the neighborhoods off Congress. The easiest way to identify what you have is to check the spacer bar inside the insulated glass unit or the top of the sash rail for a small etching or sticker with the manufacturing code and date. If that’s worn off, measure the visible glass width and height to the nearest eighth inch and we can usually identify the series from the frame profile and balance shoe style.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question, CWS shut down operations years ago, which means true OEM parts are not reliably available. What we carry are quality aftermarket equivalents that are matched to the original CWS spec: the right spring tension on balances, the right cam profile on casement operators, and glass units with the proper low-E coating and gas fill for Florida exposure. TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent service provider, not affiliated with CWS. What that means for you is we buy the part that fits and lasts, not whatever is still sitting on a discontinued-parts shelf.

Signs Your CWS Window Replacement Is Failing

  • The sash drops hard or won’t stay open. This is a balance shoe failure. The nylon shoes that ride in the channel wear down over time, and when the shoe lets go, the spring tension releases all at once. In a house near the inlet where humidity runs high, these shoes wear faster than you’d expect.
  • Fog or moisture between the glass panes. The seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. Once the desiccant inside the spacer bar is saturated and the argon or krypton fill escapes, you can’t fix it with a cleaning. The glass unit gets replaced.
  • Crank handle spins but the sash barely moves. The worm gear inside the casement operator is stripped or the operator arm has separated from the sash bracket. This is a common failure point on riviera and coastal casements because the salt air accelerates corrosion inside the operator housing.
  • You feel air coming through a closed window. The weatherstripping has flattened and compressed over years of sun and heat. On CWS windows with EPDM bulb seals, the rubber degrades and the bulb never recovers its shape. The window structurally is fine, but the thermal and air seal is gone.
  • The lock no longer engages or the handle feels loose. Either the keeper on the sash has shifted out of alignment or the lock mechanism itself is worn. This one is easy to ignore, but a window that can’t lock properly is a security gap, especially in a ground-floor Riviera Beach bedroom.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Riviera Beach, a straight single-hung or slider glass unit replacement typically runs $275 to $650 installed, depending on size and whether it’s clear, low-E, or impact-rated glass. A full sash replacement with new balances, shoes, and weatherstripping usually lands between $450 and $900. Casement operator and hardware replacements run $180 to $375. The big drivers are frame size, glass package, and whether the window carries a Miami-Dade or Palm Beach County impact-rating requirement. Every quote is written line by line: part, labor, haul-away, tax. There are no surprise line items added to the bill, ever. Workmanship is guaranteed under our Done Right Promise, and any manufacturer warranty on the parts we install is registered in writing before we leave the driveway. That’s The Keystone Standard, and it’s been the way we’ve done business in Palm Beach County for a long time.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: confirm the window’s frame and sash are not cracked or loose, feel for air movement around the edges, and note whether the window sticks at a specific point in its travel. That information helps us diagnose faster over the phone. What we don’t recommend is opening up a balance system or removing a CWS sash without the right tooling. These windows use spring-loaded balances that are under tension even when the sash is in the down position. When a homeowner releases that tension improperly, the spring can unload suddenly and do real damage to hands or the frame. Glass replacement is another one that’s hard to do cleanly without the right glazing tape, setting blocks, and a clean silicone seal; a bad seal on a new unit just means you’ll be calling us in a year anyway. If the window is sealed, stuck, or letting the weather in, call us at (786) 829-6722 and we’ll get it diagnosed.
